As we embark on this new chapter, let's take a moment to reflect on the resolutions that often accompany the start of a new year. In the midst of setting goals and aspirations, let's remember not to overburden ourselves with unattainable expectations. Instead, let's focus on cultivating a sense of balance and well-being. Personally, my plan for 2024 is to carve out intentional time for the things that bring me joy, such as reading and sewing. In the spirit of self-care, I encourage you to find moments to indulge in activities that nourish your soul and contribute to your overall well-being. Birthday Bath Bomb Spotlight: Lush's Dragon’s Egg This month, I’m celebrating the January birthdays with the enchanting Dragon’s Egg bath bomb. Immerse yourself in a sensory experience as the bath bomb fizzes and releases a burst of citrus and bergamot, leaving your skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. In an effort to enhance your experience, I would like to inform you about a small change in our appointment process. Starting this month, there will be a new consent form for each appointment. This form is designed to ensure that we clearly discuss specific areas that require attention prior to our hands on work starting. Your comfort and satisfaction are my top priorities, and this adjustment will help ensure that. Thank you for your ongoing trust. I look forward to another year of promoting health and relaxation through massage therapy. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Wishing you a year filled with tranquility, joy, and vibrant health! Warm regards, Katherine
November updates and 2024 price changes
I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share some important news about my massage therapy practice. Starting on January 1st, 2024, I'll be implementing a price increase for my services. I’ll include the new fee schedule at the bottom of this email and the details on this can be found on my website as well.
As we head into the colder months, I'd like to emphasize how awesome massage therapy is during this time of year. It's not just about relieving physical tension from the chilly weather; it's also an excellent way to unwind and boost your overall well-being. And it’s always helpful to deal with the achey back and arms from those first few big shoveling days of the season.
On top of that, I want to remind you that the end of the year is approaching, and if you have insurance coverage that resets on January 1st, now's the perfect time to make the most of it. My schedule is still relatively open for appointments until the end of the year, so you can lock in your sessions today and maximize your insurance benefits. Just keep in mind that my clinic will be closed over the Christmas holidays, so plan accordingly.
For those of you celebrating November birthdays, I've got a little treat for you. This months birthday appointments will include the Snowflake Dragon bath bomb from Lush because even adults should have a special little birthday treat!
Your trust in my services means the world to me, and I'm excited to continue providing you with top-notch care in the coming year. If you have any questions about the price increase or want to book an appointment, please don't hesitate to reach out.
See you soon!
-Katherine

Massage playlist album of the week - "The Unintentional Sea" by Rafael Anton Irisarri
In a world that often seems like a never-ending storm of chaos and noise, we all crave moments of tranquility and peace. One powerful way to find that inner calm is by combining massage therapy and music, and one album that has become a cherished companion for such serene journeys is "The Unintentional Sea" by Rafael Anton Irisarri.
Released in 2013, "The Unintentional Sea" is an ambient album that I have really grown to love. Irisarri, a renowned composer and sound artist, skillfully navigates the realm of ambient music, delivering an auditory experience that is both immersive and meditative. I have added this to the ambient playlist for the clinic but I’ve also been listening to it while practicing yoga and sitting for meditation at home.
Here's why "The Unintentional Sea" was such a welcomed addition to my work playlist and my personal self-care practice:
Ethereal Soundscapes: The album is a collection of ethereal soundscapes that transport listeners to otherworldly realms. Each track is like a sonic journey, with layers of ambient textures that gently ebb and flow, inviting you to let go of the outside world and dive deep into your own thoughts. It manages all of this without drawing your attention away from your massage session, it’s an addition - not a distraction main event.
Emotional Resonance: Irisarri's music has a unique ability to evoke deep emotions without the need for words. The melodies are minimalistic yet rich with feeling, allowing listeners to explore their inner landscapes and connect with their emotions on a profound level.
Calming Presence: "The Unintentional Sea" exudes a calming presence from start to finish. The soft, droning tones and subtle field recordings create an immersive sonic environment that envelops you in a cocoon of tranquility. It's the perfect backdrop for achieving a state of mindfulness and relaxation.
In a world filled with distractions and demands, finding moments of inner peace and reflection is essential for our well-being. "The Unintentional Sea" by Rafael Anton Irisarri provides the perfect sonic backdrop for such moments, allowing you to drift into a realm of serenity and self-discovery. So, the next time you sit down for some self-care time, consider letting this beautiful album guide you on your journey toward inner tranquility.
Iskra String Quartet - Discoveries & Inventions
In the ongoing series “What we listen to while at Compose Massage” we have a new album, Discoveries & Inventions by Iskra String Quartet. In contrast to the last album featured, this one is a little bit more varied in it’s content. It’s only three tracks but it really pulls you along. Track one is a soft introduction to the album, track two borders on a bit mournful, and track three is an uplifting breath of fresh air. This is the oldest album listed on Iskra Strings’ Bandcamp page, and I can’t wait to listen to their subsequent albums as the months go on.
